My public speaking centers on healing and wellness issues. Using my mental health background, I provide didactic presentations on topics such as self-care, setting boundaries, finding focus, enhancing creativity and wellbeing, and embracing one’s passions.
In my more personal speaking engagements, I address how we overcome difficult life experiences. Drawing on ideas and narratives from my book, Own Your Life: How Our Wounds Become Our Gifts, I speak transparently about my mom’s incarcerations and subsequent suicide. My intention in sharing on this subject is to provide people hope when dealing with heartbreaking and unexpected life events and to know that we can overcome them.
